Move Your Rug

Grammy nominated saxophonist Jeff Coffin can be found Vanderbilt University or touring with the Dave Matthews Band (and he spent fourteen years as a member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.)

Move Your Rug is one of Coffin’s best known works; the piece is rooted in New Orleans traditions that can be utilized in your classroom.  The melody, as well as the solo form, can be learned by ear while also allowing the opportunity to study New Orleans mainstays, When The Saints Go Marching In and Lil’ Liza Jane.
