Let Battle Clements

Callum Au is a name to be known out of London; he is an up-and-coming composer who writes masterful works for big band.

Born to a Scottish mother and a Chinese father, Callum grew up in Blackpool, England before moving to London where he now works… constantly!  He is a member of the Ronnie Scot’s Jazz Orchestra, has performed with the likes of Maria Schneider, and Seth McFarland, while also writing and arranging for Quincy Jones, Randy Brecker, the SWR Big Band, and Louis Dowdeswell.

Speaking of names you should know: Louis Dowdeswell is England’s Wayne Bergeron.  Separate, these two are incredible musicians, together they form a big band powerhouse.  This chart, Let Battle Clements, comes to us from their “Big Band Toolkit”, a wonderful resource for young musicians and high school jazz programs.  The piece itself is available through ejazzlines.com
